Export document to integration

Simul can export documents to SharePoint Online, OneDrive, Google Drive and Dropbox.

To export a document, select the document tile and then the specific version you wish to export.

Select “Export This Version” from the Actions menu:

You will see a list of external files which have been imported or exported previously. If this is the first import / export with an external platform, the page will look as follows:

Select the platform you wish to export to – each platform behaves slightly differently and will be described in the following sections.

SharePoint / OneDrive

By default, Simul will export the document to your account’s OneDrive. If you wish to export the document to a sub-folder or SharePoint site, select “Browse”:

You will see a browse dialog allowing you to select all sites and folders you have access to:

If you select a SharePoint site, the export platform and path will be updated:

Google Drive

By default, Simul Documents will export the document to the root folder of your Google Drive.

To change the destination, select “Browse”:

Select the folder and press “Select”.

Google Drive has an additional option of whether to convert the Microsoft Word document into a Google Doc. This conversion is performed by Google and regardless of your selection, you will be able to import / export copies in the future in the same way.

Dropbox

By default, Simul Documents will export the document to the root folder of your DropBox.

To change the destination, select the desired folder using the “finder” shown above.

Box.com

By default, Simul Documents will export the document to the root folder of your Box.com Drive.

To change the destination, select “Browse”:

Select the folder and press “Choose”.

Finalising Export

Once a destination has been selected, provide a document name (this defaults to the Simul document name) and decide if you want to overwrite a file with the same name if it exists:

You should then see a success message like so:

The next time you export the document, you will see the previous export listed:

This provides more than a shortcut to export the document in the future. When exporting again, Simul will detect if any changes have been made to the document in the external platform.

If so, a new version will be imported into Simul Documents. This conflict can then be resolved by merging the documents or by reverting the revisions:

The next time you export will be successful as Simul Documents has synchronized the external document.

This allows you to work on multiple platforms knowing that you can always see exactly what has changed and ensure no documents are accidently overwritten.
